After a decent rookie season in 20006, Scott Speed says he’s pretty sure he’ll be driving for STR in 2007, according to an interview with Speed TV:
“For me, it’s always been sure,” said Speed, a California native. “For whatever reason, they haven’t announced it officially, but I very much doubt anything will change. We’re not worried. I mean, everyone I have talked to within Red Bull and the team – for everyone it’s sure.”
There has been a lot of speculation of who exactly is going to be given the race seats for Toro Rosso for the coming season. Rumors have been circulating that Gerhard Berger, STR’s owner, is looking to “sell” one of the STR drives to a driver who is able to bring in some sponsorship money. With STR buying Ferrari engines next year, it seems the team may be looking for someone to help write checks to the Maranello team.
